In common with other archives, you need to register before you can access our catalogue. Registration is free and creates an electronic identity allowing you to obtain the best from the Archive. You will be asked to agree to us contacting you by email to verify your identity and for later information and updating purposes (eg the automatic alerting system, new donations, fund raising appeals etc).

Registration will give free access to the Archive catalogue and allow you to search for and keep images and documents for your own private study or for research. To protect other users and to keep our costs under control we may limit the amount of material that can be downloaded or the number of searches (for example of our people databases) that you can carry out. If you regularly download a great deal of material or run numerous searches we may ask you to become a subscriber.

The Mills Archive Trust will keep a registry of user information to help us manage the site and its facilities. We will keep only the minimum information and we will not make that information available to third parties. In particular we will not distribute lists of email addresses.

The automatic alerting system

On registering you will be asked to complete a questionnaire identifying your particular interests. This will allow you to opt into our automatic alerting system, which will send you an email whenever new material relating to your specific interest is added. On returning to the site you will see links to the material highlighted in your in tray.
