On the opposite bank from the ancient house “The Weavers”, on the NE side of the High Street, stood King’s Mill. Both its name, and its location in the heart of the City, are indications of its former importance, but little of it remains. The building itself has been replaced long ago. Remarkably, the position of the former waterwheel against the brickwork is clearly recognisable, and the blocked hole through which the wheelshaft once passed can still be seen, but any obstruction to the water has been removed.
