About The Mills Archive > Our collections > Foundation Collections
The four Foundation Collections are:

The Private Collections of M M Cookson, J K Major, A Stoyel

These represent three of the largest collections of material on traditional mills and milling in the UK. Between them they represent more than 130 years of researching and working with mills, and collecting and publishing information. The collections cover many areas of interest and will be progressively catalogued over the coming years.

The SPAB Mills Section Collection

Since its establishment in the early 1930's, the Section has been left large collections of material created and assembled by various mill researchers and enthusiasts. As the Section does not have the space or the expertise to develop these collections, nor to accept further deposits, it has agreed to pass them to the Mills Archive to better care for them and to improve public access:

  Donors include

E Mitford Abraham Frank W Gregory A E Bancroft
Hallam Ashley John Mullett Paul Tritton
Frank Lewis Emanuel Michael Organ Miss E M Gardner
Rex Wailes

Organising and cataloguing this material is one of our main priorities

To inspect the catalogued elements in these and the other collections you will need to register
